CANDICE SHAUGHNESSY

Candice Shaughnessy is a singer, voice teacher, and performing arts business teacher. For the past twelve years, she has combined her skills in performance and teaching to create a diverse and unique musical career. Her greatest passion is to empower young emerging professionals in opera and musical theater. Currently, she serves on the voice and professional development faculties at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, NY. She is also a paid soprano at Rutgers Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. 

As a professional soprano, Candice has performed in the United States, Canada, and Italy. Some of her favorite opera roles include La Badessa (Suor Angelica), Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Mother/Grandmother (Little Red Riding Hood), Ruth (Pirates of Penzance), Florence Pike (Albert Herring), Leila (Iolanthe), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Madame di Croissy (Dialogues de carmélites), Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas).

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Candice holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Seton Hill University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Duquesne University.

Candice currently resides in Astoria, New York with her cat, Mattie, and partner, Alex.
