HOLLI LEGGETT
Holli Leggett has been teaching privately for 30-plus years. Beginning in Texas, she worked her way onto the Sam Houston State University voice faculty right at the birth of their successful Musical Theater program. With a background in classical vocal technique she found her niche working through the musical theater belt to finding a student’s personal voice. Holli moved to New York, honed her audition prep skills and now, after almost 20 years in New York, has students on Broadway, National and International Tours, and regional theaters all across the US.
Living in New York has allowed Holli to not only sharpen her skills for her first love of teaching, but to feed her performing side as well. Holli has premiered three new operas in New York City, two of which were written for her. Other roles include Violetta in La Traviata, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, Ida Strauss (the one who stays with her husband) in Titanic, and Pam in Baby. Holli dabbled in producing as Executive Producer with Opening Doors Theatre Company for two seasons during which time she headed up their critically acclaimed Closing Notice Series featuring productions of It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman! and Flora, the Red Menace.
Currently she continues to keep close tabs on the theater community by starting year number 12 as part of the voice faculty of the renowned American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) as well as maintaining her own full private voice studio. Her specialty: new singers looking to find their own voice. “Go ahead and try it! No ones gonna die if you do it wrong.”
